Château Rocheyron

A STORY OF A GREAT TERROIR AND DEDICATED MEN

- Château Rocheyron takes its name from its location, Rocheyron. Sharing a boundary with Château Laroque along one side of the estate, its history is linked with that of the neighbouring vineyard, classed as Grand Cru Classé.

- In 2010 Silvio Denz, a co-owner of Clos d’Agon in Spain (Catalonia) and Peter Sisseck, the oenologist of Clos d’Agon, indicated their interest in buying Château Rocheyron under the AOC Saint-Emilion Grand Cru.

- Peter Sisseck is a native of Denmark, who came to the Bordeaux winegrowing region to spend some time with his uncle, an oenologist. Having gained a degree in agricultural engineering, he settled on the Ribera del Duero in 1990, as consultant oenologist to a major winegrowing estate. In 1995 he created the estate Dominio de Pingus and his first wine, Pingus. In 2007 he added the project Bodegas y Viñedos Alnardo. In 2010 he returned to the region from which he had set out, to carry out research into traditional and innovative winemaking. Château Rocheyron gave him the opportunity to rediscover the characteristics of the great wines and terroir of Bordeaux.

A STORY OF A GREAT TERROIR AND DEDICATED MEN

- Silvio Denz is a creator of perfumes. He also collects art, notably the works of René Lalique. In fact, his admiration for the latter led him to acquire the company, Lalique. His love of wine inspired him to buy two wine merchants in Zurich of which Denz Weine. He has since become the owner of Château Péby Faugères and Château Faugères in the AOC Saint-Emilion Grand Cru and Château Cap de Faugères in the AOC Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux. He is also a partner in Montepeloso in Tuscany (Italy) and Clos d’Agon in Catalonia (Spain).

- Château Rocheyron therefore marked the start of a new story of friendship, terroir and passion in 2009. Sisseck and Denz could not resist attempting to produce the finest wines from this small but excellent terroir on a limestone plateau, near the Grand Cru Classé estate of Château Laroque.
